Public banana judging

Show usyour bananas.

The browner, the better.

You have got one on the counter right now. Spotted, bruised, going soft, and everybody in your house has decided it is somebody else's problem. Send it to us. The nanas will rate it out of ten and tell you exactly what they think, which is the risk you take.

How to get judged

Three steps, no dignity required.

1 · Photograph the evidence

On the counter, in the bowl, at the back of the fruit basket where you forgot about it. Natural light. No filters, we will know.

2 · Tag us

Post it and tag @badbananabakehouse, or send it to us in a DM if you would rather be judged privately.

3 · Take your rating

The nanas score it out of ten. The best ones go up on this wall. There is no appeals process.

The scale

What the nanas are looking for.

A green banana is a coward. A black one has lived. Scoring runs the other way from what the produce aisle taught you.

1 · Still greenThe ripeness rating10 · Magnificent
1–3Not ripe, just unripe. Put it back and wait.
4–6Getting somewhere. A few spots is not a personality.
7–8Now we are talking. This banana has stories.
9–10Admitted immediately. This is bread and you know it.

The wall

Bananas you sent us.

Do not throw that banana away.

Everybody wrote them off. They got better anyway. Send us yours, or let us do the hard part on Wednesday.
